When reading in Chinese, do you "read out loud" every word in your head? When I'm reading in English, I involuntarily "pronounce" every word inside my heard, as if a little voice inside me is saying it. But I'm curious, when Chinese native speakers read in Chinese, do they automatically pronounce the word in their head or do they just skim over the characters and understand the meaning of the text without mentally "pronouncing" every word?

I think we do both. We can quickly skim over and get the gist and also we can pronounce the word in our head at the same time.
