Whats "booty call" and "happy as a clam"? 1 Booty Call.... What is this supposed to mean when they combine together? I think I know the meaning of booty literally..and its not a nice word, but I am wondering does that mean like "sexual sign" if someone says something is a booty call.. by the way I saw this from the script of the movie"He's not that into you".. and the original sentence is "Myspace is a booty call"... 2 Happy as a clam .. (well I DO know its an informal way to say "very happy".. BUT I'm kind of curious that why its a clam? I dont see a clam could be that happy.. and in Chinese if we want to say someone is happy.. we would probably describe him/her is happy as a fairy or something like that... We believe that people with superpower is likely to have less worries than human beings... I just want to know if there is any interesting stories or joke inside..

As happy as a clam - very happy and content.. "It never occurred to him to be discontented... He was as happy as a clam." "Crispin was soon hammering and whistling away as happy as a clam at high water." "I've been as happy as a clam since I moved to the country. I don't need much. Just somewhere to live, some work to do, and a TV to watch, and I'm happy as a clam at high tide." Origin Why would clams be happy? It has been suggested that open clams give the appearance of smiling. The derivation is more likely to come from the fuller version of the phrase, now rarely heard - 'as happy as a clam at high water'. Hide tide is when clams are free from the attentions of predators; surely the happiest of times in the bivalve mollusc world. The phrase originated in the north-eastern states of the USA in the early 19th century.

A "booty call" is when you call or visit someone only to have sexual relations. I imagine that if somebody said that "MySpaces is a booty call", they mean that the main reason that people us MySpace is to find people to have sex with. "Happy as a clam" , originally "Happy as a clam in high water" just means "very happy". In high water or high tide, a clam is least likely to be eaten by other sea animals. A clam is safer in high water. That's the only understandig that I have of it. Maybe there's more.

1) A "booty call" originally meant a telephone call (often late at night, often when one or more people involved had been drinking) whose purpose was simply to get the receiver of the call to go meet the caller and make out or have sex. I guess now it could be a text message, MySpace message, whatever, and you could still refer to it as a "booty call". NB- "Booty" is a term for rear end. 2) My guess is that clams are a good example of a mindless creature, "without a care in the world", and, lacking the capacity to worry, you could say they're happy (although, I wouldn't). Younger generations typically wouldn't use this expression.
