Zhunbei 准备 verb or noun? For me it's often not clear if a word is a verb or noun or both... On Pleco it's said zhunbei 准备 is a verb. So in this sentence is it a verb or does it become a noun when adding de 的? 做最坏的准备。prepare for the worst. Thanks a lot !

yes, because “准备”can be a verb and a noun. There is another word“地”, the pronunciation is the same as “的”, the sentence“迅速地准备”, “准备” is a verb here. If a adj word after“的”,the word can be a adj, like“她真的美丽”,and also can be a noun like“她的美丽”.

做最坏的准备,means preparing for the worst result , not do the worst preparing. 中文口语中会出现大量的省略,根据语境省略很多句子成分

It depends on the context. nearly all verbs in Chinese are both verb and noun, because there is no ing form in Chinese.
