What is the difference between "talk about the matter" and "disscuss the matter" here? *discuss the matter ‘I talked about the matter with her.’ ‘I discussed the matter with her.’ Thanks.

Hello Ootred! I would say that the sentences mean the same thing - basically both sentences imply that "I spoke with her about the matter." - both people spoke to each other about the matter. I hope that helps.

Hello Song! I agree with what you have said and I would like to add that "to talk about something" could mean to give a speech or to have a "one sided" conversation. but "to talk about something with someone else" is the same as having a discussion where two or more people participate. I hope that helps a bit!

1.Chinese version: "talk about sth ,意思是"谈论某事",只是谈论,或者聊天等,主要获得某事的信息或者发展过程。不一定非得围绕某个结论而进行谈论。 English version: Talk about sth, which means to say or to speak to something, just to talk about, or chat, etc mainly to get information about something or the process of its development. Maybe you can not arrive necessarily at some conclusion. 2. Chinese version: "discuss about sth" 是讨论某事。主要围绕某一个话题或者问题进行"谈论",一般可能引起争论,主要目的是为了得出一个正确的结论。 English version: To discuss something is also to talk to something, and mainly around a topic or problem to talk, which talk can generally cause a controversy, and its main purpose is to draw or arrive at a correct conclusion. 希望以上内容能够帮助你(Hope this helps you)
