Τέλος in ancient Greek meant ''purpose'' and in modern greek means the end.As words meanings differ from ancient to modern Greek ,τέλος in ancient Greek was meant as the destination which is at the end of the road when we fulfill our purpose.

It means "end".
Are you referring to the Seikilos epitaph? Long shot I know, but this ancient song is still sung today. You'll see 'telos' in the last line: 'the end, the time, will collect'.
