A slip is a word for a small piece of paper. It can be a receipt, but it could be other things as well. For example, if you go to the library, maybe the librarian gives you a "slip" with the name of the book you are looking for. We do not use "slip" very often in this way, but you might hear it once in a while. "Receipt" is always a paper that proves that you bought and paid for something. Good luck

A "receipt" is a record saying what you paid and what you received. When you buy groceries, you get a receipt saying that on February 11th, you paid $3.79 for a dozen eggs, gave them a $10 bill, and received $6.21 in change. The receipt is printed on a "slip" of paper. A "slip" is a small piece of paper. We can say the receipt is what is printed, and the slip is the paper it is printed on. If you are thinking about money and budgets and taxes, you would be more likely to call them "receipts." If you are thinking about a cluttered office with a bits of paper all of the desk, you would be more likely to call them "slips."

Hi Elizaveta. Hope you are well. A receipt is a piece of paper showing proof of a purchase and usually includes the date, value and items purchased. A slip is usually a small piece of paper with a note on it. However, in some instances, especially in casual situations, the word "slip" may be used to replace the word "receipt". An example would be when friends are discussing shopping and the one could say, " Have you got the slip for the shoes you purchased yesterday?" This used to be quite common in my country, however, things have changed and more people are using the word "receipt". Hope this helps.
