What's difference between shortcoming and disadvantage?

You can check for more details in the dictionary, but overall I would say: Shortcoming is the fault of the person or thing, whereas disadvantage is beyond the person's control.:
Examples:
His shortcomings were that he refused to work hard and could not get along with others.
His disadvantages were that he was born into a family that did not value education during a pandemic
