Stan

Stan is very warm and friendly. He makes me feel comfortable speaking in my imperfect French and corrects me in a supportive way from which it is easy to learn. He speaks at a reasonable temp which I am able to understand. I have not had an opportunity to speak French in years and it has been over 35 years since I took a course in college.

Always a fab lesson with Stan!

Stan was phenomenal. I am trying to quickly brush up my admittedly rusty French. I’ve played with the other self-guided apps, but 30 minutes with Stan was more productive than hours in those apps. I have four more sessions already booked with him and am more than excited for them. Initially as I spoke French with a real person for the first time in years, Stan helped me find my confidence, kept the conversation simple, but as my confidence and recollection of the language grew, he naturally progressed the conversation to more complex topics and structures. His corrections of my mistakes were done with kindness and understanding. His use of the chat function was useful for my continued learning. He provided exactly what I wanted and needed before a trip to France - a brush up and extension of my use case vocabulary. Simultaneously, I intend to continue to work with Stan following my return from France to further grow my proficiency in the language. Merci, Stan!

I've taken French lessons for many years, with many teachers on iTalki and elsewhere. Without a doubt, Stan is the most effective at creating conditions for me to speak to the best of my ability at this stage. And, he is so easy to talk to that I know I will only continue to progress from here! Thanks Stan for your wonderful approach as a language teacher.

Stan was wonderful! He was extremely deliberate in discussing what I already know and what we can do to work on areas for improvement. He really cared about my goals and preferences for learning and I'm so excited to keep working together!
