Hi! My name is Julian. I'm a certified English teacher who lives in Victoria, British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada.
My hobbies include playing guitar and piano, photography, reading, and enjoying nature whenever I can. I also enjoy relaxing over a good show or movie, and I'm a passionate foodie (someone who loves food!).
I'm also passionate about language learning, and speak conversational French and Japanese. This gives me useful insight into the rewards and challenges of learning a second or third language. I love working with people and helping them achieve their goals and dreams, which is one of the reasons I enjoy teaching English so much. I look forward to working with!Me as a Teacher
I've been an English tutor since the beginning of 2019, when I began tutoring international students at the University of Victoria's English Language Centre. I helped students with conversational English, as well as with informal and academic essay writing. I have two articles published in a peer-reviewed journal, so essay writing is one of my areas of expertise.
I then received my ESL and EFL teaching certificates in 2020 and 2021, from institutions in Canada and the United States (Inlingua Victoria and International TEFL Academy Chicago). I also received my Teaching English Online Certificate in 2021.My lessons & teaching style
I believe the most important thing is to help you achieve your language goals in the best way suited to your level, needs, and learning style. Whether you want to improve your grammar and vocabulary, or a specific skill such as speaking, listening, reading, or writing, we will work together in a way that is both helpful and enjoyable for you.
Based on an initial consultation and our ongoing experience together, I will create lessons that include the best content, tools, and strategies for helping you learn.

Julian is a super nice and responsible teacher! He is good at correcting grammar mistakes. He improved my IELTS speaking score from 5.5 to 7. The speaking topics are similar to current IELTS speaking topics. He gives a little bit homework after class to help you review, but not hard. The best teacher I found in italki!!Love him!
