Luisa is an incredible teacher who really listens and gives me the space to express myself. I love how she doesn’t just jump in when I’m stuck—she encourages me to think of another way to say it or add context, and then helps me refine it after. It’s such a great approach because it pushes me to grow. She speaks at a perfect pace and introduces new vocab naturally. Today, we talked about healthcare, economics, and country comparisons—topics I didn’t think I could handle yet! She always makes me feel like I’m progressing and ends every class with encouraging words. She's superrr dope!

Our class was amazing, as always! One of the things I really appreciate about Luisa is how supportive she is without ever making it too easy and coddling me. When I ask for help, she’s there with an answer, but if she sees that I’m trying to figure something out myself (even if give her my best “please just tell me” look after a while), she smiles and encourages me to keep going. It’s a great balance—she gives me the space to think things through, and it helps me feel like I’m really owning the language.

Luisa makes each lesson both interactive and enriching. Yesterday, she assigned me a short article to read for homework, and today, we reviewed it together. During the lesson, I practiced my reading and pronunciation, and she supplemented the material by showing me pictures of places and concepts I wasn’t familiar with. She even shared short YouTube clips of the dances mentioned in the article, bringing the content to life. The lesson was incredibly dynamic, and I loved how seamlessly Luisa combined language practice with cultural immersion, teaching me not just the language but also a lot about Colombian culture and Barranquilla. For tonight, she’s assigned me a journal entry about Carnaval, which shows her thoughtful approach to assigning varied types of homework that target different skills. Luisa’s passion for teaching and her ability to personalize lessons make learning Spanish a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Every lesson with Luisa is something new, with a mix of activities that keep things fun and interesting. We’ve done everything from writing summaries and watching cultural videos to playing vocab games and figuring out song lyrics. We’ve also described memes, talked about holidays, and gone over grammar in ways that actually make sense. Luisa always has something unexpected planned, and her lessons are a lot of fun. I always look forward to them!
