I am a TEFL certified professional English teacher here to help you reach your goals with spoken English through conversation practice.
I am from the UK and currently live in the USA. I have a varied professional background which includes business, law enforcement and health care. I enjoy traveling, reading and music and learning in general.
I have been teaching on italki for over 10 years and aside from the pleasure of seeing my students improve their English, I really enjoy the cultural exchange that comes with helping people from all over the world with their language skills.
Me as a Teacher
I love learning languages myself and have made my share of mistakes so I'm very patient and supportive. I'm enthusiastic about helping others learn and work to achieve their goals!
I have experience with students from beginner level to advanced level, so I can adapt our topics and my own speaking style and level to suit your current level. I make sure to use colloquial expressions so that you get used to how natives speak from the very beginning along with insights into British and American culture.
My goal as a teacher is to create an environment where you can relax and enjoy interesting and natural conversations as if just talking to a friend while improving your English.
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are conversation based which I feel is the most enjoyable and effective way to improve your language skills. I encourage you to speak as much as possible so we can discover areas that need work, and I make sure to always correct vocabulary, pronunciation or grammar errors as we go along.
Besides being a dedicated professional teacher, I offer help with proof reading for CV's and motivation letters, academic work, personal statements etc, or just writing practice as part of our lessons.
I tailor my lessons to your interests and goals, so let me know if you have any special requests.
*** Each lesson finishes 5 minutes early to allow me to prepare for my next lesson.

John is always friendly and punctual with a lot conversations sights to talk to. Sometimes I think that I'm talking to a friend instead to a teacher showing how easy is to talk to John.

The lesson was great as always. John's teaching style is not only effective but also enjoyable. Through conversation he understands your hobbies and interests, asks you questions and opinions. There is no better way to improve your speaking skills. And he writes down new words if necessary so you can learn new vocabulary. A very interesting and inspiring conversation. I recommand it, thank you.

I highly recommend John for exciting conversations in English; it's his mother tongue. He always manages to find different and topical subjects to develop during each lesson. He adapts easily to his student's level, and leads and guides the lesson by planning developments throughout the conversation. He arouses and supports intellectual curiosity by proposing various topics on English or American culture or on the student's favourite subjects. John, I'd like to thank you for all these conversations in English because I'm getting better and better at communicating orally in specific situations.
