My name is Farah and I'm a native Arabic speaker (MSA-Iraqi-Egyptian dialects). I am a fifth year medical student and I have always been interested in learning new languages. In the process of learning these languages, I knew what works best to learn a new language and I'm delighted to share it with you in your process of learning Arabic.
I enjoy watching movies of all genres, especially psychological thrillers, period dramas and It would be a delight to meet Harry Potter fans here! I also like listening to classical music and pop music from time to time. It would be great if we have common interests to help in your practise in learning Arabic.

Me as a Teacher
I think learning a new language opens a door to a new culture. That's why I believe that it's important to put effort in teaching students my language the same way I would want to be taught. I also believe that a teacher who is passionate about the subject is more likely to give you better understanding and love for the language than any other teacher.
My lessons & teaching style
I teach organized lessons so every lesson will be a milestone for certain learnt words and sentences. I discuss the goal of the student first and prepare my topics, homeworks and quizzes to be finished at a certain amount of time. Practice has a huge importance and that's why we will use every minute of it for your advantage. You will notice how Arabic will be incorporated in your life after the first lesson as I make flashcards and homeworks so that you don't forget what you learn in the lesson.
The most important thing for me is to know the student's purpose of learning Arabic to prepare the lessons well according to the student's interest.

Great lesson with Farah! We continued learning the basics of the Egyptian dialect. I asked Farah a question about verbs that I didn't understand, and Farah explained the answer, We learned about the days, months and seasons in Egyptian. Farah's approach to start with the Modern Standard Arabic is paying off!

Great lesson with Farah! We learned more of the basics of the Egyptian dialect - pronouns, vocabulary for family members, numbers. A light bulb really switched on for me when Farah explained how verbs work in the Egyptian dialect, since it is different from Modern Standard...and easier! It was also very helpful the way she highlighted the differences in her presentation.

Great lesson with Farah! Farah had a lesson ready to go when I expressed an interest in the Egyptian dialect. After having exposure to Modern Standard Arabic, much of what we learned in our first lesson about the Egyptian dialect was already familiar. Farah pointed out the differences as we went. We covered a lot of ground in the lesson!

Great lesson with Farah! We reviewed how to conjugate verbs for present tense and how to negate verbs in the past, present and future. We also learned how to ask questions. Farah used the whiteboard so that we could go through many examples. She is very good at planning and adapting her lessons!
