About Me
italki teacher since Mar 28, 2017
My name is Anna, I'm a Russian language teacher and a YouTube blogger from Saint-Petersburg.
Teaching Russian is my job and my hobby.
I am a person behind Russian from Russia youtube channel and two audiopodcasts: Russian Verbs from Russia and Russian from Russia Podcast.
I have travelled half of Russia, which means that you'll be able to not only get acquainted with the Russian language, but also with Russian culture and geography.
I recommend that you book a trial lesson: for you to understand what I have to offer and for me to know your language level and you goals, in order to make our lessons more helpful, more interesting and more enjoyable
Me as a Teacher
In the last 20 years, I’ve been teaching Russian as a foreign language on a daily basis, in groups and one-to-one.
Today you can choose from two types of my classes: structured lessons (Russian Step-by-Step; Russian through Movies; Russian through Storytelling) or informal tutoring.
When I say "structured" I mean that I've designed some programs for elementary, intermediate and advanced students of Russian and I can guide you step-by-step through Russian language acquisition.
Informal tutoring is mostly conversational practice. It can be also some assistance with proofreading, answering your questions and other tasks you need.

What is unique about my lessons?
If you book my professional lessons you will have an individual plan for your lessons before we begin and a detailed plan before each lesson.
After getting the plan, you can write your suggestions to me, and I'll correct the plan according to your needs.
We'll use google docs during our lessons and you'll have the notes after each class: the notes with phrases and new words.
I correct homeworks between the lessons, so that we could use our lesson time more productively.
You can find more information about specific courses in the course descriptions.

Anna is an excellent teacher. She is energetic and very charismatic, encouraging and interested and highly professional. It is also fun to work with her. But she also puts demands on you, so you can not "get away" so easily. She knows how to address my particular needs and problems in a very good and structured way, and at the same time she is very sensitive to my goals and areas of interest. She gives me very useful tips and expressions that I could use in my own life, concerning my situation and what I mostly will talk about, when using my Russian in real life. A very good lesson. Well prepared, good preparatory material before the lesson, and stimulating exercises to follow up on. Also very good at documenting the lesson in real time, also so you can go back to it. It becomes like my personally adapted manual. Looking forward to the next time!

What a great lesson! Anna's easy and uplifting manner, combined with helpful suggestions and a wealth of knowledge, led to a terrific mood and conversation. I came away feeling enthusiastic and eager to learn more - exactly what one ought to gain from a good teacher. Until next time!

My experience taking lessons from Anna has been first-rate. I am grateful to her for her help.
In keeping with her preference that the student speak as much as possible on topics of interest to him or her, the lessons are conversational. I appreciate how deftly she leads the discussion, ensuring that there aren't any lulls in it. However, I must emphasize that this does not mean sticking to subjects on which the student is well rehearsed. On the contrary, she encourages me to keep going when a complicated subject arises, even if it's one I have not often discussed in Russian. That is quite useful, though challenging, practice.
Since she sends written corrections during the conversation, I have a full record to consult in order to determine which mistakes are habitual and which result from inattention or gaps in knowledge.

Anna is excellent. She helps to guide the conversation for maximum learning, correcting grammar and helping with proper pronounciation.
