Hello, my name is Dalexy Montoya Joya. I am a passionate geoscientist with a strong interest in teaching and literature. I hold a major in Geoscience and a minor in Biology from Universidad de los Andes, and I have also completed an oceanography course in the U.S. Besides my scientific career, I enjoy sustainable agriculture and have worked on permaculture and ecotourism projects in Morocco, India, and Spain. I am fluent in Spanish and English, and I am learning Chinese. In my free time, I love reading classic literature and exploring new topics through reading.Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I strive to create a dynamic and accessible learning environment for all my students. During my time at the University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Morocco, I taught Spanish to medical students, helping them acquire essential medical terminology. This role allowed me to develop leadership skills and discover my passion for teaching. I believe in active and participatory learning, where students feel motivated and engaged. My experience as a teaching assistant at Universidad de los Andes has provided me with a solid foundation in pedagogical techniques and student assessment.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are structured yet flexible, tailored to the needs and levels of my students. I use a combination of traditional methods and modern technologies to keep the classes interesting and relevant. For example, I incorporate tools like interactive maps and data analysis software to teach complex concepts in an accessible way. I focus on constant practice and real-world application of the language, using everyday and professional situations to help students use Spanish in various contexts. Dalexy is a wonderful teacher, adapting to my learning style to help me with what I ask, taking the time necessary to ensure I understand the material, and suggesting topics that we should focus on next. She has a very good ability to recognize the areas that I need help with from the exercises we review in each lesson which allows for the perfect amount of structure in my learning. While I am definitely a beginner when it comes to spanish, I do have some understanding of conjugation and the grammatical structures. Dalexy has been able to adjust the material to suit my needs very well. I look forward to each lesson, knowing that I will come away with improved spanish skills.

I've had two lessons with Dalexy so far. I like her teaching method because it's very interactive. She has you speaking Spanish on day one. She is very kind and very patient, which is good for me because I get very nervous trying to speak the language.
