I am currently a Mathematics student who never says no to an adventure and loves unusual conversations over a table full of delicious food. I strive to convince the rest of society that everything in life, even mathematical problems, is just another form of poetry. I am a born leader who strive to have a positive impact on other people.

Me as a Teacher

I have three years of experience in online teaching in which I gained the necessary skills to be fit for an Afrikaans online teacher. I have learned to be concise and patient and to be sensitive for the different levels of progression in various students. As a teacher I always try to highlight the student's strengths in order for him/her to develop confidence which is very important when one commits to learning a new skill or language.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe that there is a big difference between learning a language and speaking a language. My lessons will be an opportunity for students to practice their basic Afrikaans communication and to learn more about the jargon, idiomatic expressions and culture within this unique language. As a resource I will use reading material, books and poetry books. As an activity I will expect from students to explain to me the reading material and we will unpack the content (all explanations in Afrikaans). I believe that once one can explain something in a language, meaning you have conquered thinking in that language, one really understands it.
