Mi nombre es María Constanza Tonchak, pero me llaman Maria. Enseño idiomas y soy intérprete médica. Me apasiona enseñar y quiero que mis alumnos sean hablantes fluidos. También busco formar futuros intérpretes, pues es diferente saber un idioma que interpretarlo. (My name is María Constanza Tonchak, but I go by Maria. I teach languages and work as a medical interpreter. I'm passionate about teaching and aim for fluency in my students. I also aim to train future interpreters, as knowing a language differs from interpreting it.)

Me esfuerzo por hacer clases divertidas, con confianza y entendimiento, priorizando el aprendizaje personalizado. Disfruto más enseñar individualmente o en grupos pequeños que en grandes grupos. (As per my students' testimonials, I'm an excellent teacher, without intending to boast (or maybe I do?). I strive to make classes fun, with trust and understanding, focusing on personalized learning. I enjoy teaching one-on-one or in small groups more than large ones.)

My lessons & teaching style

Comienzo asignando el nivel del alumno y luego diseño un programa. Hago evaluaciones regulares para avanzar. Enseño utilizando métodos variados, como memorización, fonética y gramática, intercalando con contenido diverso como videos y juegos. (I start by assessing the student's level and then design a program. I conduct regular assessments to progress. I teach using various methods, such as memorization, phonetics, and grammar, interspersed with diverse content like videos and games.)

Having completed a few conversational/debate classes with Maria, I can say Maria is a great teacher for Spanish. She speaks well, and we discuss a wide range of topics. Her English is quite good, so when I get into idioms or complex phases, she can find an equivalent Spanish saying. I would definitely recommend a class with Maria.

I am studying for a trip to Argentina to observe medical providers. I am currently in pharmacy school and Maria does a great job of giving me medical vocabulary and questions so I can pretend to be the pharmacist in Spanish. These lessons have been a lot of fun and help me learn a ton of new vocabulary!
