Hello! I'm a Japanese teacher living in Fukuoka with my husband and our 9-year-old daughter. I lived in Melbourne, Australia, from 2009 to 2016, which enriched me with a diverse cultural background. I love learning and discussing a wide range of topics including cultures from Japan and other countries, technology, politics, investments, travel, and life. My hobbies include traveling, gaming, collecting miniatures, reading, and visiting shrines. I am excited about the opportunity to speak with many people through customized lessons tailored to each student's interests!
Me as a Teacher
Hello! I obtained my certification as a Japanese teacher in 2009 and taught at a Japanese language school in Melbourne from 2010 to 2016. After returning to Japan in 2016, I started teaching on italki, where I've conducted over 6,800 lessons for more than 300 students. My lessons cover all levels, from beginner to advanced, and are tailored to meet students' needs, including JLPT preparation, travel phrases, and everyday conversation. I use plenty of illustrations and sometimes English to help beginners feel comfortable. I always strive to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment with a friendly approach. I look forward to meeting you in our lessons!
My lessons & teaching style
【 Beginners are welcomed! 】
I use "Minna no Nihongo" (or "GENKI" for student's requests) and a lot of visual materials for beginners. For intermediate and advanced students, I use textbooks that you want to use , some articles, sometimes youtube videos.
My advice:
1) email me with any questions or ideas
2) book a trial lesson, we can chat about your learning aims and make a plan for you
3) if you like the look of the plan then you can book a package of lessons
◉ Cancellation Policy: At least 24-hour notice should be given for a lesson to be cancelled or rescheduled. Otherwise, no refund will be issued (as the system doesn’t allow me to offer the lesson to another student).

Caring and patient. Learning a new language can be daunting at times. Yuki makes our lessons enjoyable, and moves at a pace which I’m comfortable.
There aren’t enough words, English or Japanese, to compliment Yuki and her thoughtfulness.

I can’t recommend Yuki-sensei enough! Thanks to her, I was able to pass the N3.
More importantly, I’ve gained confidence in speaking Japanese with Japanese people! I used to attend language school and get good grades but when it came to speaking Japanese I was always tongue-tied.
Yuki-sensei is kind and friendly, and we chat about all kinds of interesting topics. I learn all kinds of vocabulary from her, and I can ask questions about grammar points/expressions I don’t understand anytime. If you want to improve your Japanese, then you can’t go wrong with Yuki-sensei!

Yuki has been my Japanese teacher for 2 years. She is an amazing teacher, and explains grammar I struggle with in a very fun and memorable way. Thanks to Yuki's lessons I were able to pass a level for JLPT. I'm really looking forward to taking many more lessons with Yuki.
いつもありがとうございます yuki先生!

It was so good to catch up with Yuki Sensei again after last speaking to her since 2018 when she was my teacher years ago. She is a fantastic teacher and I'm looking forward to many more lessons with her.
