Hello there! I am an American from Denver who loves to travel and learn about other cultures!
I have an undergrad degree in Economics and Business Analytics, and I have been teaching and tutoring language and business courses online to university students and business professionals for a few years now.
These days, I am living part-time in Colombia, fully immersed in the Spanish-speaking world. In addition to teaching, I work as a Spanish Language Consultant, which includes translation work and post-editing for grade-school materials along with other projects.Me as a Teacher
I have been teaching since 2008, and offering classes online since 2021.
Most recently, I was working with University students online for a platform based in the USA, but then decided to transition into work that would allow me to travel! Thanks italki!
Having experience with travel, language, business, and education, along with everyday life in Colombia, I find myself uniquely situated to be a small part of helping to bridge the gap between US and Latin American cultures.My lessons & teaching style
Most of my teaching style and strategy is based on the advice of learning experts and polyglots:
1. Interactive conversation is the key element to language acquisition.
2. Learning during play causes massively improved retention!
3. Each student is unique, and a learning plan should be flexible enough to accommodate a student's specific learning style and needs, even when it takes time to identify them.
As we progress, we will capitalize on whatever works best for you, personally.

Basically, I help to convert documents into Spanish from English in a way that is context-sensitive and culturally informed, specializing in a Colombian style which more closely adheres to the standards of the Real Academia de Español.
