I am Asmelash from Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. I have a bachelor's degree in "Ethiopian Languages and Literature"; Masters in "Social anthropology"; advanced diploma in "Leadership and Social Change" and diploma in "Train the Trainers".
I am native in Tigrigna and Amharic and proficient in English. I have several years of experience in training people in various subjects. I am a coauthor of a book on Tigrinya proverbs and made some researches in Tigrinya and presented at different conferences.Me as a Teacher
I am trained in adult education and that will help me to understand and consider my students needs and personalities. I will try to understand the needs and levels of my students and plan the lessons accordingly. I make the lessons a step by step incremental, interactive, showing direction and encourage my students to understand the patterns in the different aspects of the language. I try to make my students at ease and I will also challenge them.My lessons & teaching style
I will follow an interactive and conversational way of teaching that gives chance for the learner to actively engage in the process. I will consider the learner's level of engagement, beginner, intermediate or advanced. Moreover, I will also consider your learning objectives while teaching you. I am sure enough that I will follow a comfortable and suitable teaching style that fits your personality. Certificate of publishing a book - Ethiopian Languages Academy - 1992I am a co-author of a book on "Tigrinya Proverbs" while I was at the Ethiopian Languages Academy. I was the team leader of the whole process from collection of the data from Eritrea and Tigray until the publication.
The certificate is in Amharic and it mentioned my contribution for the publication of the Tigrigna Proverbs book. It is signed by the then Minster of Culture.

Master's - Social AnthropologySocial Anthropology is the study of human beings, specifically focuses on the social aspect of a society. I gained on how to work with people at community level, research methodologies, and report writing.
2019 - 2022
Bachelor’s - Train the TrainersThe course focuses on adult education, starting from training need assessment, preparation of training materials, delivering the training and evaluating the training. This is a course also to train trainers. The course gives me a solid background on education and training. We had practical project as a requirement for graduation and I did three major training project for the course/
Work Experience
1987 - 1995
Folklore Expert and Head of the departmentI have worked at the Ethiopian Languages Academy first as expert in folklore and later as head of the folklore department. The folklore department consists of several Ethiopian languages including Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromigna, Wolayta, Kembata and others. I was specifically working in the Tigrinya section while I was an expert and involved in the Amharic section when I was head of the department.

Asmelash is a wonderful instructor for heritage and non-heritage learners! I just finished my third lesson, and I found his teaching style to be intuitive, patient, and thorough. Lesson materials are clear and promptly sent after the end of the meeting. Questions are encouraged, and he always celebrates improvement and commitment. While I come from a heritage background, he meets people where they need support.
His anthropological work also makes him an invaluable resource for those working in academia or in industry. From our first meeting, he shared relevant information related to my research interests. During lessons, he provides contextual information on the social and historical evolution of language formation. His professional experience in the field shines in his instruction as literacy becomes a verbal and cultural skill.
While my Tigrinya studies just began, I know Asmelash will continue being a wonderful instructor.
