Just had my first Shanghainese lesson with Wang Min, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed the class. We were able to quickly discuss my goals, discuss learning approaches and dive right in to learning. The book she is using covers most general topics, and Wang was very perceptive on which topics would be good or better skipped. She was very polite, supportive, and struck a great balance of speaking Shanghainese, Mandarin, and English that I felt kept a strong focus on Shanghainese but also helped me connect all the dots. Her overall approach was very engaging and I felt I really got a good amount of speaking practice in. Shanghainese is a really hard language to learn, and even harder to find a good teacher. Thank you so much, and I look forward to our next lesson!
