Mafe Zapata

Mafe is a wonderful teacher! She is welcoming and understanding and I always feel comfortable in her classes. I started taking classes with a rudimentary understanding of Spanish and she has guided me in a structured way to be able to talk about what I want to talk about with Spanish speakers in my life. Having only taken classes in other languages that I am more experienced in, starting from the beginning was a new experience for me; however it has been great so far with Mafe as my teacher. I highly recommend her classes!

I've now had a few lessons with Mafe. Mostly conversation, with a bit of grammar and travel tips for Medellín (which were spot on!). Besides having the chance to talk a lot in class, I really like that we were able to discuss more complex topics in some of the classes, killing any chance of boredom! Also, Mafe speaks English and some Portuguese. That's very convenient for me (as a native Portuguese speaker) as sometimes one language or the other works best for drawing comparisons or explaining new vocabulary.

I already have had 5 spanish classes with Mafe and she is an exceptional teacher. I've been really interested to learn more about certain grammatical structures and also aimed to extend my vocabulary with the classes. She comes up with super comprehensive but structured, practical and easy to learn examples to really understand the grammar and to differentiate between different uses, while we also engage in longer conversations to practice speaking the language. She is kind, patient and engaging and provides great resources to lean on outside the classroom. I recommend her 100%.

This was my second lesson with Mafe, which we spent discussing a podcast episode that I picked out. Mafe came to the lesson very prepared, with interesting questions for us to discuss related to the episode. She also gave me many helpful corrections regarding Spanish grammar and vocabulary. I'm looking forward to taking more lessons with her!

Mafe has been such a wonderful Spanish teacher, I really appreciate how creative she is with her materials and tutoring style. We use whiteboards, videos, graphics, books, and homework for me to come back for more things to discuss. She is also just fun and easy to talk to, highly recommend.
