I'm Elena, and my native language is Russian. Currently, I'm living in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. I hold a BA in history and an MA in Human Rights, and one day, I dream of continuing my research and pursuing a Ph.D.
For the past five years, I've been teaching Russian as a foreign language—a role that I love. Beyond that, I've also had the joy of teaching history and creative writing. Guiding others and sharing knowledge is a true passion of mine.
I have a wide range of interests: literature, contemporary poetry, history, teaching, and creative writing, to name just a few. I’m also fascinated by anthropology and gender studies, and love learning new languages
Me as a Teacher
I teach Russian as a foreign language for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. I have worked with a range of levels, ages, and abilities.
I try to create a pleasant, friendly atmosphere in my lessons. I know that Russian is an intricate language, and it is highly significant to feel welcome while learning.
I see myself not only as a teacher but also as a kind of curator. It is crucial to set small goals together with the students. Their achievements motivate and show results. In addition to constant improvement in the Russian language, I read a lot of new information about learning tools as such.
My lessons & teaching style
I conduct classes in English or Russian depending on a student’s language level
The most important thing for me is to find an individual approach for each student. I build a study program depending on your requests. Whether you're interested in discussing complex academic topics or just want to chat about everyday life, I’d be thrilled to connect!
Most of my lessons are based on a method of practice. I provide you with homework, but of course, I understand if you don't have time for it.

It's wonderful to (try to) talk in Russian with Elena about subjects like flight shaming, the political situation in Armenia, the names of our chicken and Romanian-French poet Paul Celan.

Elena is an inspiring person and an excellent teacher. Especially if you want to discuss themes that really matter, she's more or less perfect. If there would be more people like Elena, this place would be a better and more peaceful place.

The time, energy and effort Elena devotes to the lesson is remarkable. The environment she creates is so comfortable, and her strategy to help you learn is super effective. I have found the teacher whom I will learn with for years to come.
