Me as a Teacher

Languages are a passion of mine and I enjoy sharing that passion with others. Teaching is really fun to me and I take my job seriously. My goal is to give you the best experience possible by continuously improving the quality of my lessons. My experience consists of close to 5 years of both online and in-classroom teaching and I recently acquired a 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate. I am highly motivated and if you are too, I'm sure we will progress through German in no time! Btw, if you'd prefer Google Meet or Microsoft Teams over Skype/Zoom/etc, just let me know, we can use those as well

My lessons & teaching style

In my classes, I like to mix various methods so as to make the class more fun and engaging. Those methods consist of general conversation, grammar, writing and reading texts and articles. During my first year of teaching here I have developed my own complete course of German grammar. I also have a range of language books from A1 thru B2 available in PDF format, as well as the corresponding audios, so we can work in those as well. So if you book a 60 minute class, we could for instance split it down the middle between working in a book or my grammar summary and then having a conversation during the other half, or any of the other methods. I try to be flexible & I teach students of any level!

Johannes is the best German teacher I've ever had. He is always incredibly thorough and knowledgeable and my lessons with him go by very quickly. Despite not having been taught by Johannes for long, I feel like I have made a lot of progress and I have him to thank for this. I absolutely recommend him for anyone looking to learn German.

I can highly recommend Johannes. I really enjoy my lessons with him. I used to dread attending German lessons, but I find myself looking forward to the hour with Johannes. He makes lessons fun, and he keeps you engaged for the full hour. Ek vind dit help baie om 'n verduideliking in Afrikaans te kry vir woorde of konsepte wat vir my onduidelik is in Duits. Vir mense wie se moedertaal ook Afrikaans is en probeer om Duits te leer, kan ek verseker vir Johannes aanbeveel. Dis ook lekker om jou eie taal te kan praat, terwyl jy 'n nuwe een probeer bemeester.

Johannes is a fantastic teacher and his personality is perfectly suited to teaching German as a second language. His knowledge of other languages is impressive, and his command of the English language is over the top...and he knows English grammar better than I do. Classes are fun and entertaining, and I especially appreciate how he works at speed and adapts quickly when I bring up a new topic. If you want to learn German...Johannes is a top choice.
