Hi my name is Claire and I'm originally from Naples, Florida. I am currently living in Washington state. I graduated from the University of South Florida in May of 2017 with a degree in Biology. I had plans to continue my studies in graduate school but instead made the decision to travel and teach English. From August 2018 to March of 2020 I lived in South Korea where I taught English in the public school system. Living in Korea was a life changing opportunity where I was able to immerse myself in a new culture, begin to learn a language, and challenge myself as an English teacher. I also love to be outdoors, cook, practice and teach yoga, read and of travel!Me as a Teacher
While in South Korea I was primarily a Middle School English Teacher teaching students ages 13 to 15. I also taught Elementary aged students and tutored adults privately. I have a 200 hour TEFL certification to teach English and also have experience teaching students from age four to adult. Teaching online as well as in person has taught me a lot about how to improve my teaching styles and what works best for different students. I am a very patient teacher who tries to make my students feel comfortable so that when they use their English outside of class they feel prepared and confident!My lessons & teaching style
I am able to adapt my lessons and teaching style to whatever you as my student need. Many of my students have found great benefit in studying English through Ted talks, where we watch a video before class and use it as a source of discussion, pronunciation practice and a way to go over unfamiliar expressions. Some students benefit from general conversation practice on a certain topic , but others prefer something more structure with practice and grammar work.
