I was born in Portugal, and came to Swaziland as a child. I did my primary school education in Swaziland and my high school and university education in South Africa. I have an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Modern European Languages (Portuguese). I also have a Higher Education Diploma (Postgraduate). I'm a high school teacher.
I enjoy discussing Swaziland. I love studying, particularly languages. I have private students and it's very interesting to meet people from other countries.
I travel to South Africa often to visit my son, wife and children. I have also travelled to the UK to visit my younger son, wife and children. My family is very important to me.Me as a Teacher
I've been teaching Portuguese and English to children and adults since 1992. I'm very patient. Currently, I teach Grade 6 and 7 at a primary school. I've been tutoring Portuguese at the local university since 2009. I've also been a Portuguese examiner/moderator at a South African university since 2013. Privately, I tutor students from Taiwan, China, Ireland, Italy and other countries, and of course, Eswatini (Swaziland). Recently, I taught a beginner's course in Portuguese over a 6 month period to the managing staff of a prominent company in Swaziland.
I also edit documents, for instance, language manuals, theses, etc.
I do translations from Portuguese to English and vice versa.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons, both Portuguese and English, can be structured or more informal. I have several textbooks which I use. I adapt my lessons to the needs and objectives of my students.
It's very satisfying to see students learning and improving their command of the language they are studying, so I try to make the lessons enjoyable and interesting. I recommend material that I use, or online material, as the opportunity arises. I encourage the student to attain his/her potential.
It's important that students are on time for class. If they cannot attend, they need to inform me 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible.My teaching material
