Hey, bonjour ! I'm Tristan, from France! 🇫🇷
I was born and raised in Brittany and I lived there until I graduated with a Masters degree in language teaching and learning design. I've taught in different countries such as France, Poland and Taiwan where I live now. I started as a university TE of French in Taiwan until I decided to stay and become a full-time language teacher.
I'm passionate about education as a whole that I devote my life to. I also love linguistics, languages, music (that I've been teaching for many years as well), video games, sciences, horror movies, politics and too many other things... I'm a bit nerdy, let's say!
Me as a Teacher
All I care about is:
- Wellbeing
- Efficiency
- Confidence
- Motivation.
It will always be my mission. If your motivation is high, then you can learn. I will fully adapt to you. I will not force you to do something that you genuinely don't want to do like homework or writing tasks. I'm very patient and enthusiastic about my job and I'm a very curious person so I love to know about my student's hobbies and try to articulate lessons around them. I try to keep a relaxed atmosphere in class and I will always do my best to make you feel safe. I'm also very flexible with schedules and methods so feel free to ask me if you need anything related to that!
My lessons & teaching style
My preferred method is through active learning. It's the most run-of-the-hill thing to say as a teacher but it's proven its efficacy countless times. I will make you guess things, teach you methodology to remember better and you will have exercises. A good teacher doesn't talk and explain non stop. They assist you, give you materials to learn from and guide through them.
I'm very comfortable with any websites or technologies to learn, whether it be through games, videos, documents, mindmaps, texts, presentations, etc. I can always use what you prefer.
Again, your motivation is what matters most so if you want a more traditional approach, that's totally fine too!
