My name is Lydia and I am originally from South Korea. I lived in Canada teaching English and helping refugees to learn the language so that they can have a better future in the country. I have lived in Australia as well and am currently living in the US. I studied TESOL in university in Canada. I am married to an American and it made me think about how to teach Korean through English in a fun and effective way. I love introducing Korea and the culture to people from all over the world. I want other people to experience beautiful things that I have experienced through languages such as making friends from all over the world and impacting other people.
Me as a Teacher
I personally struggled a lot when I was learning English in schools. However, I started having foreign friends in college and realized how fun it was to learn English. I decided to study TESOL in Canada because I love to help people enjoy learning the language so I got my TESOL certificate in order to teach English professionally. I will share all of my tips and strategies with my students and encourage them to keep on learning and never give up!
I married an American who has been learning Korean so I have been trying very hard to come up with good ideas to teach Korean through English. Everyone needs a good teacher who can guide them to right paths and I want to be the one for you!
My lessons & teaching style
For those who want to improve their speaking skills, I prefer to have a lot of conversations so that they can listen and speak the language. By using different materials such as cards, games, and pictures, I will engage students and make my lessons more interesting and fun. I love to teach my students phrases that native English speakers use a lot so that their learning can be very practical. I want them to use what they learn in my class in real life so that they will be able to see their improvement and get encouraged. If my students want to learn English for academic purposes, I can use books and different resources to help them with their vocabulary, reading and writing skills.

Lydia is an amazing teacher. I enjoy our lessons so much! I have a learning disability that I was afraid to share with her at first but once I finally did it was such a relief. She was very accepting and made me feel like I could still learn and still be a good student. She will work with you 100% towards learning Korean.

I enjoyed my trial lesson. She was patient with my difficulties pronouncing words and provided repetition until I could understand. I liked her use of the chat feature in the classroom to provide both reading an speaking practice.
