I’m Glauber, a language enthusiast and educator from Brazil, where I grew up immersed in the rhythms of Portuguese. Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering foreign languages—a journey that continues today as I independently study French. Beyond language, I integrate Brazil’s vibrant traditions into my teaching—from the infectious beats of forró (a Northeastern dance I’ve practiced for six years) to discussions on history and philosophy. When not teaching or translating, you’ll find me trekking through nature, strumming my guitar, or exploring new music. These passions remind me that growth—like language learning—is a dynamic, lifelong adventure.
Me as a Teacher
My academic credentials include dual degrees in History and Translation, complemented by 16 years of experience teaching high school history and six years as a professional translator specializing in English-to-Portuguese projects. As the Foreign Languages Coordinator at UESB’s International Office (State University of Southwest Bahia), I design programs that bridge global learners to Brazilian Portuguese through immersive courses. This role has honed my ability to tailor education to individual goals, whether academic, professional, or personal.
My lessons & teaching style
My methodology is deeply influenced by Stephen Krashen’s Natural Approach, prioritizing meaningful communication over rigid grammar drills. I craft lessons around real-world interactions and student interests—whether cinema, literature, gaming, or Brazilian culture—to spark engagement and organic language acquisition. While classes are conducted primarily in the target language (adjusted to your level), I welcome questions in English and Spanish (which I speak fluently) or French (intermediate proficiency), ensuring comfort without compromising immersion. My activities prioritize maximizing meaningful input in the target language to lay the groundwork for eventual output.

Glauber is an excellent teacher. I really like his method for teaching languages because it encourages me to speak the language right away. You can tell that he knows how to teach and how to keep students motivated and engaged. It was really pleasant and funny lesson packed with a lot of information. Thank you and see you soon. :)
