Hi I am Naoko, Japanese native, born and raised in Tokyo Japan. I have been living in the U.S. over 20 years and had spent last 15 years in New York. I'm a hybrid teacher and I teach both Japanese and English online . I enjoy seeing my students becoming fluent. Yes, it takes time but you will get there as long as you follow my guidance. So far, five of my Italki students have been to or will be in Japan as a student, relocation or travel. I'm very happy to see their own dream come true. I feel like I make some impact on someone's life. I feel that it's such an honor to teach them.Me as a Teacher
I am a very easy going and fun teacher. I am very interested in navigating all of you to be a fluent. Since I am good at speaking in English, I teach English as well. I studied English and Psychology at University of Arkansas at Little Rock while I was working as a full time.
When I don't teach, I like to just relax, eating sweets, watching movies, walking at the park, going to the gym, shooting hoops, a listening to the student's violin recital at the Juilliard, some readings, coloring and knitting straight line scurf.My lessons & teaching style
I use a natural approach based on Language Acquisition Methods. Over the years, I taught various types of students and I'm quite good at extracting student's strength and use as a leverage to acquiring language. Part of my unique lesson is to facilitate coaching. It is quite unique but essential when it comes down to acquiring language. On top of this, my teaching style is opposite form academic stye and I don't teach grammar. ( I used to but I discover that doesn't work at all.) We will talk further at our trail lesson. Don't be shy, just request Trial. I am open to any level of students.

Naoko-sensei has been teaching our family Japanese for a few months now. I had some knowledge of the language, but my wife and kids started from zero. My wife and eldest son are now composing sentences and holding simple conversations and my younger daughters have learned many words and short phrases. Not only is Naoko-sensei is a native Japanese speaker, but her deep understanding (and speaking) of English has been very helpful in our learning of Japanese because she can thoroughly understand our questions and areas of confusion and help to clarify. We are so happy we met Naoko-sensei through iTalki and plan on continuing lessons in the long run. We'd highly recommend her!

Got my first lesson with Naoko San, really great first impression. She is very cheerful and easy to talk to. Through out the lesson she helped me make complete sentences and make sense of it. Will definitely continue conversation practice with her.
