Hello, my name is Benjamin and I am from Oregon, USA. When I am not teaching, my interests include reading, writing short fiction, watching films, geology, rockhounding, lapidary work, and having engaging conversations about many topics. I love to travel and at this time have been to over 20 countries! During my travels I enjoyed a few places so much that I lived in them for extended periods of time. A couple of my favorite places I've lived are Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Medellin, Colombia (where I currently reside).Me as a Teacher
After obtaining TEFL Certification from the Language Institute at Chiang Mai University I taught classes at Pro Language Chiang Mai in 2008. I remained there until returning home from Thailand in February of 2009. Since then I have done private English tutoring in Thailand, Mexico, and United States.
More recently, I taught English conversation and grammar lessons to students enrolled in Tutlo Online English School, based out of Poland, from 2020 to 2022.My lessons & teaching style
I find that the best way to learn a language is to acquire it through conversation. My skill as a teacher is to adjust to each student's level. Whether you are a beginner at learning English, or are an advanced student, we will communicate and improve your skills. My lesson for this method is "Let's Chat" which is an informal conversation lesson. I do not teach grammar in most of my lessons, however, if you would like to practice some, please let me know and we can spend a portion of our lesson doing some exercises to learn more about your strenghts and weaknesses.My teaching material

I took the "Let's Chat!" lessons with Ben to help me prepare for the IELTS exam and improve my conversational English. Ben is a fantastic teacher who can chat about anything, from deep philosophical questions to video games and everyday life. The lessons were always super comfortable and fun.

Ben is a fun and creative teacher! I’ve been taking his lessons for about six months, and he encourages me to talk about a wide range of topics, from video games to current political issues. Even when it’s hard for me to express myself on my own, he asks the right questions to keep the conversation going. The 30 minutes always fly by, and I learn something new every time. I highly recommend his lessen to anyone who wants to practice speaking while having fun in conversation!
