My first lesson with Mr Shaqra was wonderful. I am starting Levantine Arabic from absolute beginning. In the first lesson, we covered the alphabet and family words. He gracious repeatedly sounds for me and explained pronunciation for me. I will most definitely continue my classes with him.

Mohammed is a very skilled teacher. I am very happy that I found a teacher to help guide me through Syrian culture and language. All Syrians can speak Syrian, but not all can explain it like Ustadh Mohammed. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in Levantine Arabic.

Mohammed is a great teacher! He’s very patient and accommodating. The conversation is a good mix of listening and speaking, with more speaking time, which is very important if you ever eventually want to be comfortable communicating in the language. He corrects my mistakes and understands why I make them, and provides better ways to say things that I say awkwardly or incorrectly. The hour goes by quickly! He provides topics, suggests solid materials/homework. Highly recommended!

Mohammed is a very nice person but his teaching style just wasn't a match for me. He wanted me to do all of the talking, which is great, but as a learner, I need comprehensible input. I would like to have a conversation where two people are speaking. He would just ask me a question and expect me to talk about it for ten minutes on my own with very little interaction or feedback from him. It felt more like a monologue than a conversation. When I ran out of things to say, there would be long, awkward silences. The other thing I didn't like was that he explained everything in English. If I didn't understand a word, he didn't attempt to explain it in Arabic, he immediately started speaking English. Finally the connection was not good and the screen constantly froze , which is not his fault, but made it difficult to know if he could even hear me.
