Hello, my name's Joe. I'm a professional, CELTA qualified, English teacher with 8 years of teaching experience. Before becoming an English teacher I was a corporate lawyer specialising in business law.
I love music and I’m the singer in a band called Mosaic. I’m also into healthy living. I workout regularly, meditate everyday, play football and love cooking.Me as a Teacher

I was a corporate lawyer for 5 years, a business English university lecturer for 3 years and a business English teacher for some of the largest corporations in the world. I've taught English in Japan since 2016. Before joining italki I was the headteacher, at the flagship school, of the leading English language institute in Japan.My lessons & teaching style
My focus is on creating enjoyable, interesting, discussion based lessons where I ask the questions and you do most of the talking. I write all of my own lessons and often include videos, self assessments, text analysis, listening exercises and role play to make each lesson unique and engaging.
I will be taking thorough notes throughout the lesson, employing a range of instant and delayed correction techniques to improve the accuracy of your English. You will receive a lesson handout, to help you to review and improve your English, at the end of each lesson.My teaching material

ECC Foreign Language InstituteI was the headteacher, at the flagship school, of the leading English language institute in Japan for 7 years. I taught English to adults online and in person.
2019 - 2021
Chukyo UniversityI lectured in business English focusing on all aspects of the English language including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading and writing. At the end of each semester my students gave a professional business presentation, in English, to their peers and invited guests.

LawyerI was a legal executive specialising in the defence of litigated claims. I represented banks, insurance companies and large multinational corporations.
The position required the highest possible standards of written and spoken communication in English. Each day I wrote more than a hundred professional letters and emails, negotiated with other lawyers, reported to executives, directors, CEO's and business owners and often gave speeches and made persuasive arguments in court.
