About Me

I am a native speaker of English from the UK, and I have worked in the UK, Slovakia and online. I enjoy spending time outdoors, sports like football, running, cricket (always an interesting topic for a lesson!) and cycling, as well as travelling to new places, cooking and trying new foods, and learning languages (currently German and Slovak). I enjoy talking about cultural differences and comparing our experiences. I am tired of the 9-to-5 office life and want to use my passion for languages to help people improve their English and make a difference to their lives!Me as a Teacher
I am a CELTA-qualified teacher with experience of teaching adults and children at all levels from A0 to C2. I have taught students from many different backgrounds and cultures, and I appreciate the cross-cultural differences in learning styles. I have taught general English, business English, exam preparation (CAE, FCE and IELTS) and conversation classes. I have also studied foreign languages myself, so I know how hard it can be to learn a foreign language and how frustrating it can be to make mistakes - but it is always better to try than to be afraid, and I will encourage you to speak as much as possible! My main interest is phonology, and I love helping students improve pronunciation.My lessons & teaching style
Some people have a logical brain and prefer to follow rules and grammatical theory, and others prefer to speak naturally without overthinking. Some of us like to see words written down, whilst other people want to repeat and practise pronunciation to imitate native speaker. Some learners want corrections after every mistake, whereas others prefer to speak without interruptions so they can express what they are trying to say without losing their train of thought. Many people love homework; others dread it. Whatever your preferences, I can adapt and help you. In our initial lesson, I will try to identify your learning style and deliver appropriate lessons using a range of sources and materialsMy teaching material
