I’ve had an incredible experience learning Spanish with Nelly. Her teaching style is engaging and patient, which has made complex topics much easier to understand. Nelly creates a comfortable learning environment where I feel encouraged to speak and practice without fear of making mistakes. Nelly was really good at allowing me to speak and express myself before correcting me. Her explanations were thorough and were at a level of spanish I could clearly understand. She explained enough grammar for me to understand, for example why the subjunctive was best used for a particular sentence. without it slowing the conversation. I know the grammar in theory and can do it in exercises, but it is very different when I am trying to speak. The conversation today with the real time corrections of what i was saying was very helpful. Today she took my clunky expressions and taught me the colloquial expressions for what I was trying to say. This will definitely help me improve my fluency over time without me sounding like I am reading from a textbook. I am looking forward to more classes with her.

After more than 3 years using italki, I think Nelly is the best teacher I have worked with. She has a friendly, engaging personality and I felt comfortable from day one, even when I’m struggling. She is always prepared with content that challenges me just enough. My Spanish has improved a lot over the past 1+ years with Nelly.
