About Me

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am currently finishing my PhD in biomedical sciences in Montreal (Canada). While I am originally from Germany, I have also previously lived in Leeds (UK) and Vancouver (Canada). In the future, I hope to live in Japan for some time. As an avid traveller, I have been to 20+ countries and I love to immerse myself in the local culture and cuisine. My other hobbies include baking, photography and yoga.

Me as a Teacher

I have been tutoring people (mostly younger students) for approximately ten years now and I believe that this has given me a lot of experience. I try to create an open and friendly environment in which you do not have to worry about making mistakes. After all, we can only improve by making mistakes! Please let me know for what purpose you are currently studying (Are you moving to Germany? Studying for a specific language test? Just for fun?) so that we can tailor the lessons to your goals.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe that teachers should be flexible in order to best respond to their students’ needs. While I personally best respond to an informal teaching style, I do realize that some students respond better to a more structured teaching approach and I will do my best to accommodate this. Your feedback is always appreciated and I hope that I can make learning German fun for you!

Lisa is a great german teacher. She has an excellent knowledge of german grammar and has been really helpful in explaining some of the more sticky grammar and usage points to me. We always have a really good time together and I enjoy our conversations. I would highly recommend Lisa as your new german teacher!

Lisa is one of the best tutors I've had thusfar. She's very attentive, gives excellent corrections (almost always in the form of a complete sentence, which is very valuable), and speaks near-native level English (C1 or better I'd estimate).
