About Me
italki teacher since Dec 10, 2018
😺My name is John. I'm from The South of the USA.
⭐I also study: Русский, Norsk, Gaeilge, Suomea, Tiếng Việt, Bahasa Indonesia, & Español. Italki has limited the number of languages possible to show on a profile but I would like you to be able to know what I study, even the languages I am not yet fluent in, in case I can use my language experience to better teach you in my class! : )
✨Many people would describe me as a laid back and funny guy. I work hard but don't make things too serious. I believe in following a happy medium in all things: making classes not too lax and not too strict, being friendly while maintaining professionality, etc.
Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I enjoy helping YOU to reach your goals in English, Mandarin, Korean or Yakut. I do my best to help Y'ALL have fun in the process too!
If any of y'all got questions or would like to schedule a time that is not shown on my calendar, feel free to send me a message and ask!
*All students can ask me questions about the language they are learning in a message outside of class and I will answer as soon as I'm able.*
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are adaptable while efficient. I encourage the students to let me know their goals, their approximate level, and their preferred learning methods (if any). For students new to learning another language, I am happy to coach in learning methods and building confidence.
I offer two types of classes:
1. Chinese, English, Korean, or Yakut lessons.
*These are formal lessons of two types*
(1) Lessons whose materials I create.
(2) Lessons where we use an existing curriculum upon request.
(With both types of formal lessons, I can give and grade homework if requested.)
2. Chinese, English, or Korean Conversation practice.
These are Guided Conversation Practice.

Best Polyglot teacher ever!
He is so talented with languages and cultures and we had so much in common! He is an amazing Yakut teacher and even though I don't speak Yakut so well, I can tell he speaks like a Native! Very satisfied with the lesson
I give John my highest recommendation for Mandarin lessons! Every session he continues to impress with his customized learning materials and highly effective teaching methods. He gets into specific ways to improve pronunciation and really provides key phrases that I will use in real-life situations. I look forward to our lessons each week and recently renewed for an additional package!

John answered all my questions and provided multiple good examples in his response, so the concepts became clear for me!

I gave John a list of vocab I wanted to go over, which he incorporated into our usual lesson materials well.
