Duilius

Lessons with Duilius are very enjoyable. At first, I struggled with his diligence in speaking Latin nearly all the time. But now I think it's great: it is exciting to be hearing and speaking an ancient language. As a teacher, Duilius is patient with my slowness and helps me when necessary. He is very attentive, noticing any confusion or hesitation on my face, and following up. I'm grateful to him for teaching me this!

Dulius probus et praestans magister est.

Duilius is an excellent teacher! I have studied Latin for many years, but wanted to improve my speaking skills. We are currently reading and discussing Cicero’s De Natura Deorum in Latin. It’s both challenging and extremely rewarding!

I'm thoroughly enjoying talking with Duilius in an ancient language. I get better every time and, with his help, I am surprised at my ability to understand and readily respond in Latin. I credit him for this: our hour-long "Latin immersion" classes make it happen naturally.

I am enjoying my lessons with Duilius. He speaks almost completely in Latin the entire time, which is good for me: it challenges me to understand spoken Latin, and, more just as importantly, express myself in Latin. Also, he is very personable and patient: my halting and slow Latin doesn't seem to bother him at all. His materials are also useful. We go through slides with text for me to read and correct. This is especially effective as it exposes and corrects my faulty understanding.

This was my first lesson with Duilius and I enjoyed it: I will be scheduling further lessons with him. Because I'm an experienced italki learner, I can compare him to other teachers. This lesson was introductory so we did a lot of speaking in very basic Latin: as he explained, he was trying to get a sense of my level. In this initial lesson, Duilius presented as reserved but friendly and warm. He was very patient as we talked in Latin, prompting me where necessary and finally providing the answer when I obviously couldn't get it. He had no problem explaining concepts to me in Latin and English. Towards the end, he shared some materials with me, showing that his teaching is more than just speaking.
