Hello ! My name is Alexandra and I am a teacher on italki. I live in Uitenhage, which is a friendly town in South Africa. I love singing and writing music. I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Science degree and enjoy doing Chemistry research in my free time. I am a native English and Afrikaans speaker and hope to learn and fluently speak at least two more languages in the next 5 years. I have 3 years of offline tutoring experience and have spent over 1200 hours tutoring online, so this is not my first time in a teaching position. I have had students from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, France, South Korea, Italy, America, Portugal, and Germany.Me as a Teacher
I have completed a 120 hour TEFL Certificate and am therefore qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Learning a new language can be very challenging, but my duty is to make this process as enjoyable as possible for you. As your teacher, I will customize my lessons to your learning goals. I am an enthusiastic and positive teacher and will create a positive space for you to learn, make mistakes and grow as an English speaker. I love teaching because I can help others improve their skills. I have spent the past two years as an English peer tutor for students of all ages and because of this experience, I am able to adapt to your learning style and language level.My lessons & teaching style
I have a relaxed and conversational teaching style. So when you book a class with me, we can either talk about any topic of your choice or I can ask you questions. I am patient and will support you every step of the way. I will give you enough room to freely express yourself and make our lessons as casual as possible. I use a large variety of resources and materials depending on what you prefer. So I will customize each lesson to your needs.
