I try to recognize, when a student needs encouragement to reach the goals the student has set for him/herself. I try to be open about my own shortcomings: there are vast new and strange areas in every language, even for professionals.

As a teacher I am encouraging, and try to activate my students to use as much Finnish as possible. People usually tell me they can be themselves in my company. This no stress state helps them to express themselves better in Finnish as the brain has no reason to activate the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze response) which would compromise higher brain functions.
