I was a volunteer sent by the Japanese government and taught at the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. My students at that time were all adults mainly government officials. After that I went to New Zealand to continue teaching Japanese at a university and also secondary schools. Upon returning to Japan, I taught English to the young Japanese volunteers who were going out to some developing countries for their tasks.
