Hi! I am a bilingual whose native languages are Kurdish and Turkish.
I graduated and worked as an engineer for several years but my passion for human interaction brought me to the field of teaching. However I always carry that analytical, systematic, disciplined, solution-oriented problem solver in me ;) 🤓
I come from a culture and a family for whom music is a form of daily spiritual practice and I play bağlama/tembûr and I sing. 🪕
Photography has always caught my interest, once I look through the lense, time stops for me. 📷
So far I've traveled to US, UK, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Lebanon, Georgia, Germany, Holland, Austria, Greece, Italy and Spain....Leer más

I have had around 5 classes for Kurmancî with Delal and I am very happy to have found her as a teacher. I have already learned a lot in these 5 lessons through the classes but also the homework she gave me. She is always well prepared and provides valuable insights into the language and culture. So all in all I can highly recommend it and look forward to our future sessions.

Exceptionally good lesson. Delal used expressions from the article we were discussing, for me to use them in sentences. As I would not normally speak the way she first suggested , together we adapted the material for sentences I would use in conversation. I appreciated her flexibility. And noticed a lot of mistakes I was making! Very useful lesson. And interesting subject matter.
Delal doesn’t give me lesson plans, as she lets me decide what I want to talk about and uses the material I choose and (some of!) the mistakes I make as teaching material. Though this time she gave me some homework: to learn to conjugate a verb I kept getting wrong within the lesson!

I would add ‘flexible’ to Delal’s qualities as a teacher. She’s very concerned to teach in the way that the student prefers. She gives homework based on what we talked about in the lesson, making my mistakes into teaching material. Conversation is always interesting, based on what interests me. She’s interested in what interests me. Through conversations with Delal I learn to talk better about topics that interest me.
As usual, it was a great lesson. Thank you, Delal!

Lessons with Delal are always enjoyable! We talked about education, linked with an excellent article about the importance of teachers, and the negative consequences of devaluing them. Delal was too tactful to mention that I was not well prepared for the lesson. Next week I trust that my preparation will be better…

Good lesson. Delal was patient with my rusty Kurmancî, asked helpful questions, corrected some mistakes. She’d also taken the trouble to give me a list of many of the new words in the 2 articles we discussed.

Lessons with Delal are always great. She tells me how to express things I can’t say or can’t say idiomatically, and gives me useful vocab, grammar etc in a document I can consult at the time and later. My Kurmanci is rusty from lack of use, and Delal was very patient, as she always is.

Lots of useful words with some grammar I didn’t know thrown in. Now I can talk more about doctors, hospitals etc, and about fostering and adopting street animals. Not the sort of things that usually appear in the textbooks! And I always enjoy talking with Delal.

Delal is patient, thorough, funny, and thoughtful. Her spoken Kurdish is very clear and the materials she uses in lessons are at an ideal level for me. So far we've had 3 lessons and I will definitely book more in future.
