The day before yesterday I was improving my listening comprehension on youtube. I tried to find a podcast, but I failed in the attempt. So, I found stories videos of Disney, nevertheless I felt bored and distracted and I continued looking more videos. I found BBC videos called "6 minute English", these videos are interesting because talk about different topics, for example: "Why do we like listen sad music?", "Why do young people feel so lonely?", "Money and lifestyle", etc. In some point, I decided to look different videos. I looked about Second World War (I'm very interesting about it) and I distracted again. I have a big problem with that, because I get distracted very easily. Some people say me that watch videos with subtitles, but when I do that, I just put attention in the subtitles and not in the audio. The only way that I really can improve my listening comprehension is talking with people or watching movies and series because I put total attention. I only talk with my English teacher and I don't have free time enough to watch movies or series and I think it's a good idea to listen English audios while I'm doing other activities. Everyday I listen English music (I love it), but I want to listen something that isn't just music. Do you have any tip for me to improve my listening comprehension? Or can you recommend me an interesting podcast and English audios?

I am also an English learner and in the same situation when it comes to listening podcast or watching YouTube. What I keep to remind myself is that it’s normal and don’t worry about it too much. Just keep listening and watching whatever English materials. We will see the obvious progress when it accumulates to some extent. Keep learning and practice. We can make it.

I can relate to all of this so much - if you replaced "English" with "Spanish", it would be my story. Two podcasts that I think you might like are Modern Love and This American Life. The first one tells stories about love, some that works, and some that doesn't, and my friends really like it. The second has won awards, and simply tells stories of people, but the reporting is very well done. Let me know if you end up listening to these, and what you think.
