When I was a child, my living conditions were not as they are today. We didn't have enough story books to read. But I was eager to read stories and I liked when my parents were reading stories for me. It's the most unforgettable childhood memories. I still remembered the most wonderful story I had read in my childhood called "Calabash Brothers”. It was a story about seven brave boys who were born from calabash on the journey of saving their grandpa. At first, there were two monsters living in a cave, one was a snake and the other was a crab. They were like partners and caused a lot of harm to villages so the villagers couldn’t live there anymore. Wherever they passed, every living creature would die including plants. One day a deity gave an old man (the boy's grandfather) some calabash seeds and told him that he should sow them to get seven calabashes of seven different colours like a rainbow. Each calabash had a boy inside and they would come out one by one when the calabashes were ripe. Each boy was powerful and had a special skill, such as using fire, water and they even couldn't get injured when struck by a sword or a knife. They could beat the monsters and save the villagers because it was their destiny. But the monsters heard the news and took the old man away. After they were born, they went to save their grandpa one after one, but all of them failed and were caught by the monsters. The 7th boy even betrayed them. Finally, the old man remembered that besides the seeds the deity also gave him a staff called the Seedpod of the Lotus. Only if these boys do anything together, they could be successful. But now, the boys had been thrown into a furnace by the monsters and they would be turned into a panacea which could provide immortality to anyone. The old man then lied to the monsters by telling them they should add the Seedpod of the lotus in the furnace to make a successful preparation.
