I have a very simple Chinese name, that is, Meng meng with a monotonous sound and the same meaning. I hated this name before, because I thought my parents didn't do their job of giving me a beautiful name after thorough consideration. When I asked them about this, my mum said she didn't know how to name me but it was spring time and everything was booming so she thought Mengmeng was easy to call and at least had a positive meaning. Everything begins to grow, so this name also implies that you are always small and naive. My classmates even asked me how would I be called when I was a grandma. Is it weird to call an elder Mengmeng? Certainly. So I was not happy with this name at all.
But now, with time, a miracle happened. Meng stands for other meanings like cute or being loved by others. A very cute and touching word used for lovely girls and kids. More and more girls have a Meng in their names. But I have two. How fashionable! So I somehow feel relived.
