Guess the play on words: "Potoooooooo," the once-famous racehorse with a strange name.

Potoooooooo was the real name of a successful racehorse of the late 1700s. The name is a kind of play on words. See if you can guess how the name is actually pronounced.

It is not pronounced the way it is spelled--it does not rhyme with "boo" or "coo" or "moo." When spoken aloud, it is actually an ordinary English word. It's the plural form of the word, and ends in s.

Hint #2:

The word is the name of a vegetable.

Hint #3:

The word is the name for a kind of tuber--a vegetable whose edible part grows underground. It is brown, about the size of a tomato but oval, irregular, and lumpy. The part inside the skin is white.
