What gift did you get for your Quinceañera ?

No, that' not an English word. Stop searching in dictionary!:D "A Quinceañera is the Hispanic tradition of celebrating. a young girl's coming of age - her 15th birthday."

I was reading an article and it was about Venezuel. It said that the most common gift parents gave to their children in Venezueal on their Quinceañera was plastic surgery. Plastic surgery industry is one of the thriving industry in Venezuela. I know that Iran is quite popular for rhinoplasty but I don't think they have any such tradition like Quinceañera.

Well, it may sound odd to you but I think it's deeply ingrained in the culture and it's not a big thing or taboo to get a plastic surgery there even if it is not necessary.(Any further info by Venezuelans would be greatly appreciated! )

Do you have any such tradition like Quinceañera for girls or boys in your countries? And how popular is plastic surgery in your country?

Interesting info and opinion would be appreciated!

Wish you all have a beautiful day!:)

Actually, it is an English word, just like canyon and burro and plaza, and searching in an English dictionary works fine.

American Heritage Dictionary: quinceañera, "A celebration of the fifteenth birthday of a Hispanic or Latina girl, typically including a Roman Catholic Mass and often serving as a social debut."

Merriam-Webster, quinceañera, "a celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday that is traditionally observed in Latin American cultures to mark her transition to adulthood"

Oxford Dictionaries: quinceañera, "(in Latin America and among Latinos) a celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday and her transition from childhood to adulthood, typically involving a mass followed by a party."

People celebrate birthdays only in my country so we don’t make a party when a girl or a boy reaches s definite age.
Concerning plastic surgeries, some people has started recently to minimize their noses and grow hair.
