1。 久旱逢甘雨, Jiǔ hàn féng gān yǔ / 久旱逢甘霖 Jiǔ hàn féng gānlín
     The long drought meet sweet rain （Drought for a long time, and then suddenly rain）
     旱 hàn: drought
     逢 féng: to come across
     甘 gān: sweet/willing
     霖 lín： continued rain


2。他乡遇故知, tāxiāng yù gùzhī
To encounter good friend in a foreign country or some other place
     他乡 tāxiāng: foreign land (far away from one's home)
     遇 yù = 遇到 Yù dào: encounter, come across,run into    
     故知 gùzhī： bestfriend/a close friend of many years standing


3。洞房花烛夜 dòngfáng huāzhú yè
    The wedding night  - - 结婚的晚上 Jiéhūn de wǎnshàng - - the nuptial chamber with painted candles
    洞房 dòngfáng: bridal room


4。金榜题名时 jīnbǎng tímíng shí
    To get top marks in an imperial exam/in an exam （One's name was put on the published list of successful candidates）
     金榜 jīnbǎng： pass list for the top imperial examinations; roll of honor （tablet with inscription in gold）
         榜 bǎng: a list of names posted up/published list of names    
      题名 tí míng: autograph， to sign/inscribe ones name
