GT is good for words but not phrases and sentences.

Personally I think GT is a good tool but it depends of the language of translation. I mean, I don't know Frech but sometimes the translations in ENG-ITA are very rough. Luckily I know Spanish too. I must admit that the translations ENG-SPA are better than ENG-ITA.

By the way, I use often wordreference monolingual because I think if you want to learn a language very well you should know that the meaning of the words are important as their translations.

PS: I watched your video and I hope to talk like you soon. See ya!

No matter how good it is, a language is spoken and listened by people instead of gadgets or calculators. Therefore, I suggest you have to know how to tell the trace distinction between different translations.

Thank you for teaching me more about GT and so one. I think it's still a great tool and of course it's hard to make such a tool in so many languages, and I hope that one day it'll be better. The conclusion is that today it's still a bit too weak to be used as a translator with longer text and so one, but it remains a good way to easily find words and small sentences that we need right know.

About 'a shame' - when I read Chinese google translated into Russian I notice English idioms:) So, they translate everything into English and then from English.

But a few years ago the guys from Google insisted that the best thing with this approach is possiblity to create (instantly!) translation tools for any given pair of languages (provided that there are enough bilingual texts to feed the machine)...

I hope, they don't feed it with bilingual texts composed by Chinese companies using GT itself)
