A letter of complaint. Practice for C1 exam level! Dear Ms Dawson, I’m writing this letter in order to show the disappointment that the different members of our neighbourhood and I have regarding the way the club is managed and the number of reasons we have to show our disagreement with it. Firstly, I would like to talk about the lack of people joining the club lately. The club should think about another way of attracting potential members, because the latest method applied has shown no use at all. One of the possibilities that the members of our club has pointed out, could be to let older people and families to join our club paying less money than the normal price the club has. The main problem right now is that some of our members, specially the older ones, are joining different clubs in the area because it offers them flexible situations, prices and schedules adapted to the money they want to spend. So, why don’t we cut our prices in order to gain more members? It would be better to have a crowded club even if we earn less money. On the other hand, our tennis courts are not in a good condition. This represents a huge problem, knowing that tennis is one of the most important sports in this club. Some members think that this should be attended as soon as possible. Finally, the club staff should remember that two years ago they were asked about building squash courts and shower rooms for the members, and instead of it we have received nothing. We would like to receive a response about this, because we are not satisfied with the club situation and we want a solution before everything get worse.

Ms. Dawson:

Members of our neighbourhood and I would like to recommend two changes in the way the club is managed.

Firstly, we are experiencing a lack of people joining the club. A way of attracting potential members may be to allow senior citizens and families to join at a discount. The issue we have now is that some of our members, specially the elder ones, are joining other clubs because they offer flexible prices and schedules adapted to their financial situations. We recommend lowering dues in order to gain more members.

Another issue to be raised is the state of disrepair of our tennis courts. Tennis is one of the most popular club activities. We recommend that the courts be repaired as soon as possible.

Finally, We request a status report on the squash courts and shower rooms project proposed two years ago.

Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.
