What the difference between "by contrast" and "in contrast" some examples better,please.Thanks

"In contrast" should be used as the subject of the second clause of the sentence when comparing things.

they are the same, but in contrast takes to or with followed by a noun; by contrast is followed by the subject. in contrast to your answer, Tome's answer has more details. by contrast,your use of the colours is amazing. i like to sleep at night, by contrast, my sister stays awake the whole night.
